Description:
The Department of Community Development (DCD), pursuant to Law (12) of 2018, is mandated to elevate the quality of life and social well-being in Abu Dhabi through evidence-based policy development, regulation, and sectoral oversight. In line with this vision, DCD aims to address the needs and challenges of the Emirate-s growing elderly population and ensure their dignified, healthy, and active aging. Abu Dhabi faces significant demographic shifts, including an increase in life expectancy and the proportion of elderly residents. However, the Emirate currently lacks a unified, data-driven, and actionable strategy for aging that aligns efforts across health, social, economic, and infrastructure domains. While various stakeholders offer elderly services, these efforts remain fragmented, insufficiently coordinated, and not always tailored to the evolving needs of older adults.
