The Department of Health (DOH) Abu Dhabi is strategically prioritizing the advancement of genomics and precision medicine through the integration of genetic testing, and genetic counseling for newborns in Abu Dhabi. Utilization of genomics offers valuable insights into individualized treatment approaches, empowering clinicians to tailor interventions with precision and efficacy. To ensure workforce for genetic counseling, DOH recognizes the importance of equipping pediatrics, neonatologists, and physicians with these essential tools, educational initiatives in different forms. Through this ongoing education and training, physicians who play a role in newborn screening practice can properly council parents with results of genetic testing to properly relay information and enhance the well-being of newborns screened through the newborn genetic screening program Objective • This upskilling course seeks to train pediatrics, neonatologists, and physicians who play a role in newborn screening and educate them on Newborn Genetic screening and to counsel parents properly post genetic testing.
